Apple Picking Is A Great Adventure

Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche is coming to denmark 1-4 october and will teach on the ground, path and fruition. The apples of gomde will be ripe and ready to pick, healthy nutritions for body and mind.

In the days at the apple harvest, the young sangha will arrange a meeting, so we can discuss the future of the kumari activities. Everyone who consider themselves as a part of the young sangha, are very welcome to join the meeting and share ideas and thoughts.

We look forward to see rinpoche and our dharma family.

Science: The universe has no beginning or end

Good news for Buddhists! Apparently the universe does not have to have begun in a singularity in spite of it's accelerating expansion. A new theory accounts better for observations than the big bang theory and does so without the need for exotic concepts such as dark energy.

Documentary: Amongst White Clouds - The Hermit Masters of China

I've just been fortunate enough to stumble upon this amazingly beautiful and inspiring documentary on the hermit masters of a forgotten Zen Mahayana tradition. The movie's young American director seeks out and becomes the student of one of the monks living a life of quiet solitude and practice in primitive hermitages along China's Zhongnan Mountain range.

Here's the trailer.

And here's the movie. I'm going to buy it from the guy though, maybe he'll do more (:

Ngöndro retreat with Erik Pema Kunsang

On September 10-12 Erik Pema Kunsang will lead a Ngöndro retreat at Gomde Denmark. Read more here: Gomde homepage

Here's a few useful resources for the Ngöndro. Please share yours!

The Great Gate - A Guidebook to the Guru's Heart Practice, Dispeller of All Obstacles:
- by Tsikey Rinpoche Chokling, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and Dujdom Rinpoche

(From Rangjung Yeshe Publications homepage):
Vajrayana Buddhism differs from other branches of Buddhism in providing an accelerated path to enlightenment based on Dzogchen principles. The word dzogchen, translated variously as Great Perfection and Great Completeness, conveys the idea that our nature as intrinsic awareness has many qualities that make it “perfect”: indestructibility, incorruptible purity, non-discriminating openness, flawless clarity, profound simplicity, all-pervading presence, and attitude of equality toward all beings. The path to connecting to these qualities was once secretly held and privately transmitted; The Great Gate: A Guidebook to the Guru’s Heart Practice makes the Vajrayana path and techniques available to contemporary seekers.

Drawing on the work of four renowned Tibetan masters, The Great Gate compiles concise instructions on Dzogchen’s foundational practices, which comprise a powerful method for turning the mind toward the Dharma and opening to the Dzogchen perspective. This revised edition features a new translation and an extensive commentary by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche.

The book is apparently available on google books (Copyright issues?). I would recommend that you buy it at the Ratna Shop at Gomde at the ridiculously low price of DKK98 or EUR14.
